Board Members Needed
JFSC is looking for volunteers to join our Board of Directors. The ideal candidates would have experience in Human Resources or Social Services. If you are interested in being part of our team, please send your CV to boardchair@jfsc.org. JFSC enriches lives and strengthens communities by providing social services to individuals, children, youth and families based on the values of compassion, social justice and improving the world. JFSC has a distinguished history of service in Calgary as a non-denominational accredited social service agency.

Communications/ Graphic Design Volunteer 
JFSC is looking for a volunteer who can create social media postings, create graphic one pagers, templates and write-ups for a newsletter, as well as edit and/or write content on behalf of JFSC.  We are looking forward to hearing from you and creating a long-term relationship.

Where: Work from home and in your own time.

When: Average of 1-2 hours/week.

Why: Play an integral role in communicating who we are and what we do.


Miriam's Well - Wynne’s Pantry
Our ability to support people in need in the community relies on the gift of time from others. Volunteers pick up produce and non-perishable food items from several locations in our city and bring them back to stock Wynne's Food Pantry. Your 2-3 commitment would directly impact dozens of people in our community. Volunteers pick up donations from 6 locations, bring them to JFSC, unload and sort them into the pantry. Lifting and driving is required for this position.

Food Delivery Volunteer
The purpose of the role will be to deliver food packages to clients who are in need of nourishment on a monthly or bi-weekly basis. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Friendly Visiting
Friendly Visiting is a meaningful way for yourself, a friend or a love one to come together with people to socialize, share common interests and have great conversations. Volunteers become matched with isolated seniors in Calgary and spend time together one-on-one on a weekly basis.

High Holiday Celebrations

JFSC is always looking for volunteers to help during the High Holidays with events and deliveries. 

Passover 2020 will begin in the evening of Wednesday, April 8th and end in the evening of Thursday, April 16th. Rosh Hashanah 2020 will begin in the evening of Friday, September 18th and end in the evening of Sunday, September 20th

Volunteer duties will include picking up donations, delivering them to JFSC and putting items away. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to deliver Holiday packages to clients.


Shabbat Volunteers

JFSC is looking for volunteers to help at Shabbat Services at one of three senior facilities in Calgary. Volunteers are crucial to the success of these programs as they offer a connection to the community for many seniors. Volunteers have opportunities to lead programs with activities of their choice! Sing, play guitar, and the list goes on.

Volunteer duties include choosing dates for Shabbat (programs begin at 10:30 AM on Fridays). Volunteer will set up the area, welcome guests, entertain, lead prayers, and clean up area when finished.


Russian Speaking Volunteers

If you are fluent in Russian, we need your help to connect with our clients. Volunteers have the option to assist with ESL classes, English Conversation Club (ECC), and become a Friendly Visitor to those in need.


Driver Appointment Companion
Do you have a flexible schedule and are able to volunteer on-call? We need your support with driving clients to and from appointments who are unable to drive on their own. A valid driver's license and driver’s abstract are required for this position.

Grocery Shopping Companion
Pick up clients and grocery shop together on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. A valid driver's license and driver’s abstract are required for this position.

English Conversation Classes (ECC)
Join a group of ESL learners and speak conversational English with all participants in order to hone and develop the learners’ conversational skills in English. ECC is weekly on Tuesday’s from 12-12:45.
